What’s New in Arts & Culture Around Denver

Although the Mile High City is known for its world-class sports, mountain views and craft beer, it’s also home to a thriving arts and culture scene that’s garnering local and national attention from curators and art aficionados looking for something new.

Over the last few years, world-renowned shows and exhibits have debuted at celebrated establishments across Denver like the Colorado Ballet, the Denver Art Museum, Denver Botanic Gardens, plus many others. And the best part? Future Lakehouse residents will be just three miles away from all of the action in and near downtown.

According to 303 Magazine, “The past year has shifted the status so the Mile High City might just become one of the cultural and artistic icons of the entire western United States. Due to the collective efforts of many different arts advocates and organizations, Denver experienced world-class artistic experiences in 2018 that only foreshadow what will come in the future.”

From major, internationally-recognized museum exhibits to contemporary ballet works and public art projects, here are a few of our favorite arts and culture happenings around Denver:

Denver Art Museum’s Dior: From Paris to the World Exhibit

Now through March 17, 2019

Located at the Denver Art Museum, the Dior: From Paris to the World is a once-in-a-lifetime exhibition that explores 70 years of Christian Dior’s legacy and influence. Guests will experience a selection of more than 200 couture dresses, as well as accessories, costume jewelry, photographs, drawings, runway videos, and other archival material, that traces the history of the iconic haute couture fashion house and its founder, Christian Dior, as well as the succeeding creative directors who carried on Dior’s vision.

The Best of Denver Fashion Week Exhibit
144 W. Colfax Avenue
Now through April 7, 2019

Hosted by Denver Fashion Week, 303 Magazine and part of the McNichols Project, Lights, Camera, Fashion, The Best of Denver Fashion Week exhibition highlights the very best of the event’s 10-year history. The exhibit will be on display from February 2nd through April 7th.Guests will experience behind-the-scenes memorable moments, the best local designs, installations and photography held at the McNichols Building.

Off The Clock: Secret Garden

Forget happy hour and join the “2019 Off the Clock” series at the Denver Botanic Gardens, an after-hours cocktail party set among lush indoor gardens. Guests will enjoy live entertainment from Borillo Entertainment; live music from the popular electronic string quartet, Spinphony; sample and learn about tea with The Queen’s TEApothecary; explore Boettcher Memorial Tropical Conservatory after dark, plus much more.

Museo de las Americas: Free Cultural First Fridays

The first Friday of every month through 2019

The premier Latin American art museum in the Rocky Mountain Region, Museo de las Americas, offers free admission on the first Friday of every month from 5 to 9 p.m. for guests to experience a unique flair of “Latinidad” in Denver. This signature event coincides with the Art District on Santa Fe’s First Friday Art Walks.

Colorado Ballet’s Tour de Force

March 8-10, 2019

The Colorado Ballet presents Tour de Force featuring a unique partnership with two local groups, Cleo Parker Robinson Dance Companies and Wonderbound at the Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Performed by Colorado Ballet, and two new works – one choreographed by Wonderbound Artistic Director Garrett Ammon and one choreographed by Artistic Director Cleo Parker Robinson – this collaborative program will celebrate dance in Colorado and showcase a contemporary work with dancers from all three companies.
