As the closest neighbor to Sloan’s Lake, Edgewater is quickly becoming a Denver hotspot with a variety of redevelopment projects bringing new dining, recreation and community spaces to the area within the year.
Last month, our team had the pleasure of touring the town with the City Manager, HJ Stalf, who gave us the inside scoop on some of the exciting projects in the works including the Edgewater Civic Center, Edgewater Public Market and the new Town Square development.
Located just a bike ride away from Lakehouse, here are a few of the upcoming developments future residents have to look forward to:
Edgewater Civic Center
Located within Walker Branch Park at 1800 Harlan Street, the Edgewater Civic Center is home to a number of activities and public spaces for community members. The 55,000 square-foot facility includes a 6,000 square-foot fitness center, 8,000 square-foot gymnasium, 10,000 square-foot library, 6,000 square-foot police department and 10,000 square-foot administrative offices and public meeting space complete with a formal entry and atrium space. The new facility celebrated its grand opening this month.
The Edgewater Public Market
The Edgewater Public Market will occupy the former King Soopers space in addition to breaking ground on a new building on the southeast corner of the property. The future redevelopment project will be home to more than 30 new retail tenants and a food hall complete with various food and beverage vendors including a brewery. The market is expected to open next fall.
The new Town Square development at 25th Avenue & Grey Street will transform the former police and fire stations, library and City Hall into a vibrant city center complete with an ice cream shop, bakery, restaurants and more. The site is being redeveloped by City Street Investors, the firm behind downtown Denver’s popular Union Station and Larimer Square. The project is expected to be completed next fall.
