Featured Lakehouse Amenity: The Creative Workshop

As we’ve all learned this past year, keeping mentally fit is just as important as maintaining physical fitness. As Colorado’s only community to achieve WELL Precertification under the WELL Building Standard, Lakehouse was designed specifically to promote the mental and physical health of its residents. The community offers many unique amenities and programming features, like the Creative Workshop that allow residents to flex their creative muscles.

Mind is one of the key elements of the WELL Building Standard and plays an important role on one’s overall health and wellness. According to the Cleveland Clinic, the average person has 60,000 thoughts per day and 95% of them are exactly the same, day in and day out. Immersing oneself in an artistic activity produces an almost meditative state where your mind is so engrossed in what you’re doing that you temporarily forget all of your troubles and worries. This goal of finding calm, peace and happiness from within is similar to what people seek when practicing meditation, mindfulness, or yoga.

The Creative Workshop was curated by NINE dot ARTS, a local art consultancy who helped to select and commission artwork throughout the Lakehouse community. The room itself was designed to inspire artistic freedom. A custom mural by local artist Taylor Herzog adds additional color to the walls, while mimicking the same biophilic themes that can be found throughout the building.

The Creative Workshop offers a multitude of supplies to dive into the multimedia arts – with Sloan’s Lake Park providing plenty of inspiration. Lakehouse residents are encouraged to use the room for projects, as well as “check out” materials in order to continue artistic hobbies or to explore new ones on the amenity deck or by the lake.

Individuals who engage in creative expression experience reduced stress and anxiety, increased positive emotions, boosted immune system and increased self-esteem. That’s why Lakehouse has provided supplies and equipment to help promote these visionary thoughts and actions including:

  • Paint
  • Colored and Graphite Drawing Pencils (a resident favorite!)
  • Chalk
  • Yarn
  • Clay
  • Beads
  • Art Easels
  • Paper Canvases
  • Sketchpads

The Creative Workshop is just one innovative feature that defines Lakehouse as a forward-thinking community that elevates the resident experience each and every day. For more information about the Creative Workshop and other amenities, go to https://lakehouse17.com/.
